It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Neil McIntosh CBE on January 5th. Neil passed away peacefully, leaving behind a profound legacy of service and kindness. As a former Governor, Neil was instrumental in shaping Langtree School into the thriving, successful community it is today. Despite his vast experience across the educational sector, he frequently remarked that Langtree was one of the finest schools he had ever encountered. He was a pillar of support for both myself and my predecessor, Rick Holroyd, offering wisdom that was as practical as it was inspiring. Beyond our gates, Neil’s career was one of extraordinary distinction, serving as Director of Shelter, Director of VSO, and Chief Executive of CfBT Education Trust. His 2013 CBE was a fitting recognition of his lifelong devotion to education. Those of us fortunate enough to have known him will remember a brilliant, caring mentor who believed fiercely in the power of comprehensive education to transform lives. He was more than a Governor; he was a true friend to the school, and his values will continue to guide us.
